If you live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, you’ve no doubt heard we’re going to get some snow starting tomorrow, Monday, and lasting through Tuesday night.
Here’s what I’ve heard from various media sources so far:
In other words, you could gaze into a crystal ball and have about as much accuracy as any local forecast.
But it’s the third one that gets my undivided attention. Why? Because a winter storm watch means the potential is there for a storm to happen. A winter storm warning means the sonofabitch is going to happen.
Sometimes I think the anticipation of a storm is worse than the actual storm. The hype, the frenzy, the blown-out-of-proportion weather forecasts!!! The exclamation point abuse!!!
No matter what happens, I’m prepared: I have food, toilet paper and beer. That last one is key. If you’re safe at home watching snow fall at three inches per hour, you need something to numb yourself to the reality of driving in it long after you’ve sobered up. Don’t read into that, I’m NOT advocating drinking and driving. If you’re safe at home, not driving anywhere for several hours/overnight, then for the love of Pete, have a cocktail.
Keep your eye on the sky, watch the weather reports and no matter what form of precipitation ends up falling from the sky, drive safe.
