If there’s anyone reading this who’s never experienced the “joy” of winter, meaning lots of snow and bitter cold, lemme tell ya, you’re missing out.
Here in the great state of Minnesota, there are many people who love winter, some people actually move here for the snow and cold (don’t ask me why, some things defy explanation). The thought of wearing several layers and taking precautions to avoid frostbite makes little sense. Stay inside where it’s warm and eat some comfort food, watch a movie and have a cocktail. Doesn’t that just sound more pleasant?
Right now, the temperature is a balmy six degrees above zero. The recent cold snap is kicking me into want-to-hibernate mode – I’m in a constant state of tired, despite my sleep schedule not changing at all, combined with a strong urge to stay in bed under warm covers and sleep most of the day.
No espresso shots will get my blood flowing; once the temps rise to about 20 above zero, or warmer, the sleepies will ebb off.
Animals have the right idea when it gets cold – they snooze until it warms up and the snow is melting.
Clearly, animals are smarter than us.
