Now before you think I’m losing my mind, yesterday I did see two boys, approximately 12-14 years old, walk into what looks like the front door and climb up to the second floor. One was hanging out the north window opening. I have pictures below.
Personally, I don’t think they should be using the construction as a makeshift fort, but the builders haven’t put up any kind of barrier to keep people out and there are no warning signs. On the other hand, I’m wondering why the parents aren’t keeping a better eye on their children.
I thought about calling the building architect – the number’s on a sign in front of the construction – or calling the city council person, but I’m not doing either.
New construction is about time and money – how much can you get done with the least amount of money. If a safety barrier is put up, it’ll take time away from the construction and it’ll push the budget higher. As far as our council person is concerned, I contacted him on another matter and got no response, not even a canned one.
I hope the developers finish the building’s structure quickly. It may be just one apartment building, but it’s still a construction zone – in other words, it’s not safe and it’s definitely not a playground.
