Just two days ago, round three started with a dry, scratchy throat. I didn’t think a lot of it, I mean, I talk a lot throughout the day, and it’s not the first time that’s happened. But later on, my voice was cracking and my throat was sore. Oy. Wednesday, I went to work, left two hours after I got there, went home parked myself on the couch and that’s pretty much where I was the rest of the day. I did go in today – I don’t get any sick time for another seven months, so I can’t afford a sick day – but my voice was on the verge of fading into oblivion.
I’m not happy about this, I’m normally healthy and can ward off colds without too much trouble, but this is fucking ridiculous. If something/whatever #4 hits, I really may have to consider another job, nowhere near a hospital, but I’m hopeful that my immune system will adapt and be stronger than it’s ever been.
So, I’m sitting here with my tea waiting for it to cool down, then I’m going to watch “Hellboy II.” Hellboy and Abe Sapien have a way of perking my spirits up. Or maybe it’s just the way the two of them sing Barry Manilow’s “Can’t Smile Without You.”
Yup, I feel better already.
And with tomorrow night being Halloween, I gotta be healthier to get dressed up and go out. So now it’s time to park myself on the couch, watch another movie and kick this bug’s ass. Again.
