I've done graphic design, but it's been almost a decade. I was a little surprised she had that much faith in my ability to do this. She referenced something I'd made back in 2011 – the Jerry Cantrell Action figure.
In 2011, I was unemployed for five months and in an attempt to not lose my sanity during the job search, I needed a creative outlet. You should know I’m a HUGE Alice in Chains fan and of guitarist Cantrell’s. I can’t even remember what the impetus was for making an action figure, but I did. And I had to make packaging. You have to have packaging. I included the end result in a slide show below.
Back to the cover. I got a little more info via text and sat on it for a couple of days. And on Monday at work, I grabbed my handy-dandy 3x3 Post-it note and pen.
I designed my new cosplay-in-progress with the same size Post-its, so I was confident something would materialize on the matte yellow surface and sure enough, ideas started to form.
I pulled some historical dress images, some great (free) fonts and tonight I’m going to put them in a big cauldron add an eye of newt, some cayenne pepper and see where this goes. And I must admit, being asked to do this is very humbling and I want this to be pretty awesome.
Time to jump off the interwebs for awhile. I got some designin’ to do.
Behold - the Jerry Cantrell action figure made back in 2011. He's part of the fictitious Guitar Gods Collection.
Bring on the heat and humidity.
Thought you should know.
